Over the past 100 years, the Isle of Man has developed from a collection of fishing villages to one of the main holiday destinations for people working in the Lancashire mills and coal mines. Hotels and other holiday accommodation were built and developed during the late Victorian era and people travelled to the Island by steamer from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
