The challenges facing our society are deeply rooted in our minds and our value system. A rescue mission must be such that addresses these concerns from the very foundation. Right now everyone is full of suspicion and sometimes a level fear as to what the future of the society holds. Every available opportunity to leave the country is now golden. Even to countries that used to look up to us for help. Internationally, our image is going south, yet we are one of the most naturally endowed nations of the world. Our citizens in diaspora would rather call the land where they live their homes when they did their sincere valuations. You can't blame them, because something does make a home home. Unemployment is now a norm. Yet we churn out thousands of graduates every year with no platform for them to apply whatever they have spent years studying in school. We ended up having thousands of jobless and most times hopeless youths on the street. Of course this is the seed for most criminal activities in the society. No society grows without substantial input from entrepreneurs. How do entrepreneurs grow without an encouraging platform and environment to engage their minds?Leadership is at war with followers, and vice versa. How do leaders who paid us to be voted for serve us when they assume office? We've been here daydreaming long enough; you took the money for most of the projects before voting and by so doing also have empowered the greed in the politician to loot more. Abroad we are painted odd and a debased race, even though we have brilliant minds. They only shine when they get into a better system. If you think you know about the poverty in the land, I can assure you, you do not have an idea until you find yourself in this midst. Our youths are becoming perverted almost beyond what you could imagine. For obvious reasons, their strength must be used for something.Healthy morals are hurriedly going into extinction. Who will sound a warning trumpet of the impending danger? How did we get here? Everybody is pointing an accusing finger. No one can tell in confidence where exactly we are heading except that we all know that things are getting out of hands on daily basis. What is the way forward? How can we make this society great again? It must start from our mind if it will become a reality. PASSPORT TO A DEPENDABLE SOCIETY was written by Samuel Alade during his NYSC to awaken our minds to the havoc we are doing to generations to come if we don't do anything about the downward motion of this society. Posterity will ask what kind of people we were. They will be justified to swearword us if we birth them into this unreliable future. I hope you will find something in this book that will ignite a fire of hope in you at least for posterity sake.
