Even though vector-borne transmission is the predominant route for the spread of the disease, the sexual route has also been identified as an essential mode, predominantly because most cases are asymptomatic in their presentation. There is an immense need that all stakeholders should aim to bridge the existing gap and mitigate the risk of acquiring the infection by strengthening awareness activities.
